How peanuts are made into peanut butter.

The peanuts are first placed into a hot air roaster which raises them to a temperature of 240 Celsius. The oven rocks back and forth to make sure that peanuts roast at an even pace, turning them from white to light brown color.

After roasting peanuts are cooled at a room temperature, but at a fast pace. Suction fans are used to pull the warm air out of the room. The quick cooling process keeps the peanuts from continuing to cook and helps to ensure that the natural oils will remain in the peanut. 

Once roasted and cooled the peanuts are placed in a blancher machine. The blancher machine removes the outer skins by lightly rubbing the peanuts between two belts. The two kernels of each nut are then split and the heart in the middle is removed. The heart of the nut is not used in peanut butter because it is too bitter.

he roasted and split peanuts quickly find themselves in a large stainless steel container. From there, the nuts are dropped into a grinder where they are ground into a paste at a reasonable pace. Care is taken to not grind the peanuts too quickly as doing so would produce heat and allow the peanuts to begin cooking again.

Additional ingredients are added to the ground peanuts in order to create the peanut butter we all know and love. They include salt, sugar, and hydrogenated vegetable oil. The hydrogenated vegetable oil is considered a stabilizer as it keeps the natural peanut oil from separating from the peanut butter and rising to the top of the jar. No artificial ingredients or preservatives are ever added to peanut butter. Oddly enough, peanut butter is one of few foods that will never need refrigeration.

Mixing the peanut butter paste heats it to approximately 60 degrees Celsius. Before jarring, the paste is cooled back down to 38 degrees. Once the machines fill the jars with peanut butter paste they are moved to the capping machine. The caps themselves are pre-prepared with aluminum seals inside. The caps are placed on the jars, which are then heated. The heating process causes the aluminum to fall to the top of the jar, where it forms a tight seal. Another machine will then print the production and expiration dates on the jar. Unopened containers of peanut butter will stay fresh for up to a year.

That is how peanuts are made into peanut butter!

Learning Styles

Every person has different learning styles, after taking three different tests on various websites I tried to find out my learning style. I will briefly talk about the results I gathered, and how much of is accurate. Out of the three tests that I took, two of the results came back indicating that I was a Kinesthetic learner. One test result was I was a visual learner. I do not agree with visual learning results. It states that a visual learner has a preference for seen or observed things; meaning; flip-charts, diagrams etc. I am not person that likes to concentrate on diagrams or charts, and cannot learn that way. My learning style is more of Kinesthetic learner, I like to have hands on experience, I like to move around a lot, activities such as going to the gym or cooking falls within my interest and I enjoy a lot, I like to take notes and talk about the subject or the project with another person. I also understand better with written instructions, when I buy a new cell phone for example, I like to play around with the phone to figure out the features of the phone as appose to reading the instructions. These are the results I gathered from the tests.

Personality Style

I took three different tests on three different web sites. According to these tests, I am a shy person, reserved, reliable, someone that can be trusted, someone who feels more comfortable planning ahead of time and sticks to the plan. All of these statements are true about me. However, one of the results was that I am close minded. I do not agree with this at all. I do not see myself as a close minded person, I except the people the way they are, yes it is true that I have my limits on how much fun I should have, or in another words, I like to use my common sense and not put myself or others in a dangerous situations. However, this aspect of my personality does not make a close- minded person. 

The personality types that, was developed, by; Carl Jung was that each individual had two psychological types. Introvert & Extravert, Extrovert is a broad personality type that whose overall orientation falls closer to under being a sociable, outgoing, spontaneous, talkative, and energetic person. Introverts on the other hand are more reserved, more withdrawn, quiet and they like privacy. 

 These two types were broken down to four functions: Thinking, feeling, sensation and, intuition. From this brake down the eight personality types were developed by Carl Jung: The extravert thinking type; The introvert thinking type; The extrovert feeling type; The introvert feeling type; The extravert sensation  type; The introvert sensation type; The extravert intuitive type; and The introvert, intuitive type. 

 I strongly agree with these personality types. I see myself as a combination of introvert sensation type along with, introvert feeling type.     

Career Goals

I am enrolled in a class that involves self assessment. I was advised by my Professor to take career goal tests on line to find out the best career path. I did, however, I am not so thrilled about wasting my time in front of the computer and wait for some web-site to tell me what I am good at, or not good at. 

As a result of these tests, I was determined that I am good at administrative work. NOT TRUE, I dislike paperwork, I hate to be in front of the computer all day sitting at a desk. I am more productive when I am working with people, and helping them with their problems or teaching them, that is the reason why I would like to become a teacher.

My saddest day

My saddest day in the past three years, was the day I got attacked by a German Shepherd dog. I was crossing the street on Lexington Avenue, on June 14, 2009. When I suddenly got bitten by the dog. It was the most horrifying experience in my whole life, I will never forget. I ended up getting 4 stitches on my right thigh along with bruises, the incident also got me fired from my job, because, I was not able to attend work for two months. To top it all off, to this day, when I am walking on the street and see a dog I don't know which direction to run to. So the very bad and sad day will always remain with me. I have to live with it every day.

My Happiest Day!

I remember my happiest day in the last three years. It was when my fiance proposed to me on May 22, 2009. We were on a flight to Italy, we were going away for a few days for memorial day weekend. I was really shocked, because I wasn't expecting a ring on the plane, somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I do not remember ever being so happy, and I still am. Every time, I think about that moment, I still get the butterflies in my stomach.
